Books on Building/Books for Building, 2006

Text that accompanied this piece, Both in the Library and the Gallery:

I am compelled by the relationship between the viewer and my actions. By removing books on the design and planning of buildings and using them to create a structure in the gallery, I create a void in the library and sculpture in the gallery. The form in the gallery and the emptiness in the library are the physical manifestations of that action. I am intrigued by the notion that I might influence someone from the library into going to the gallery to see the sculpture, or conversely influence someone into going to the library to witness the absence. In the end, it doesn't matter.

Regardless what the viewer's response, my investigation is complete upon its understanding.
